Instrumentation and Spine Approaches. VIII Spine Course of Lleida and Pyrenees.

March 14 - 15, 2024
Instrumentation and Spine Approaches. VIII Spine Course of Lleida and Pyrenees.

Course Features

Description

The specialty of orthopedic surgery and traumatology covers the teaching of spine pathology; but, given the special complexity of such surgery, a sub-specialization is needed. In general, 3 or 4 years of training are necessary after the MIR to be able to perform spine surgery. The course is designed to perform the four fundamental techniques that any spine surgeon needs before being able to perform them successfully on patients.
This course does not have any sections.

Goals

The aim is to teach the four techniques that every spine surgeon must master. For this purpose, 4 work stations will be available. Each one has a human cadaver and a senior instructor, with a maximum of 5 students per station, so that the techniques can be repeated several times per student, with continuous supervision.

At the end of the course, the student will be familiar with the following techniques:

  • Cervical spine intervention via the anterior approach, with the placement of implants, both inter-somatic and support plates.
  • Posterior cervical spine intervention, canal liberation and placement of a metallic support system, as well as the different possibilities of performing it.
  • Anterior lumbar spine surgery (particularly difficult) and implant placement.
  • Intervention on posterior thoracolumbar spine, canal liberation and placement of both inter-somatic (TLIF, PLIF) and pedicular implants (2 different systems are taught).
