Introduction to Laparoscopic Surgery for Veterinarians – 5th ed.

Course Features

Description

The implementation of minimally invasive surgery - and more specifically laparoscopic surgery - is already a fact in Human Medicine. In Veterinary, the use of these techniques is still limited, and there are many reasons for this: the cost of the equipment, the difficulty of specialisation, and the lack of evidence of their advantages, among others. As with all technologies, prices have become cheaper over time and this will probably soon cease to be an obstacle. The training of veterinarians is therefore the key to be able to consider these techniques for our pets. The course we present on laparoscopic surgery is from a multidisciplinary perspective: Human and Veterinary Medicine. We will take from the medical professionals their long experience and technical update, and from the veterinarians their knowledge of anatomy, anaesthesia and specific small animal pathology.
This course does not have any sections.

Goals

  • To learn in detail the usual equipment and materials for laparoscopic surgery.
  • To acquire the initial skills to perform laparoscopic surgical manoeuvres.
  • To learn the indications and particularities of this type of surgery in small animals.
