Module VI of the Postgraduate Course in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Small Animals

20/03/2027 · 21/03/2027

The International Institute for Veterinary Training (Ifevet) organizes the “Postgraduate Course in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Small Animals”, certified by Nebrija University, which offers advanced and comprehensive training through theoretical sessions, cadaver workshops, and practical training on in vivo models.

The module to be held at CREBA will involve working with dog carcasses and, finally, with anesthetized live pigs:

  • Practical learning models using dog specimens: precision tests, depth, handling of the camera and light cable, straight or 30° optics, precautionary measures, assertiveness, etc.
  • In vivo practice: laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. The procedures to be performed will be in order of increasing difficulty.

Course objectives

The aim of the full programme is to train veterinarians who wish to specialise in minimally invasive surgery and acquire the skills needed to operate confidently and independently in the operating theatre.

The training provided at CREBA offers the hands-on experience required to achieve this objective. It is a fundamental module in which participants can get to grips with and master minimally invasive surgery over a single weekend of intensive learning: simulators, cadavers and 100% real-life practical sessions that will engage the student’s five senses and provide a unique experience, the benefits of which will be amplified by the end of the weekend, across all aspects of minimally invasive surgery.
