Module VI of the Postgraduate Course in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Small Animals
The International Institute of Veterinary Training (Ifevet) organizes the “Postgraduate Course in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Small Animals”, certified by Nebrija University, in which it offers advanced and comprehensive training through theoretical sessions, cadaver workshops, and practical training on in vivo models.
In the module that will take place at CREBA, work will be carried out using simulators and, finally, with a live anesthetized pig:
- Practical learning models with simulators: games, precision tests, depth perception, handling of the camera and light cable, straight or 30° optics, precautionary measures, assertiveness, etc.
- In vivo practice: laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. The procedures to be performed will be carried out in order of increasing difficulty.
Course objectives
The objective of the full program is to train veterinarians who wish to deepen their knowledge of minimally invasive surgery and acquire the necessary skills to act safely and independently in the operating room.
The activity carried out at CREBA provides the necessary in vivo practice to achieve this objective. It is a key module where participants land and take off again in minimally invasive surgery over a single high-intensity learning weekend: simulators, viscera, and 100% real practice sessions that will engage all five senses of the student and deliver a unique experience, amplified after the weekend, across all aspects of minimally invasive surgery.
